<image:title>Announcements - Meet the Candidates for Member-at-Large - Sarah Swider</image:title>
<image:caption>I am running for the position of Member‑at‑Large on the Executive Board because I believe deeply in the power of a strong, engaged union to shape the future of our university. Higher education is facing a period of significant uncertainty and change in the environment in which we operate. Our people are the institution’s greatest asset, and Wayne State University can only weather these challenges and come out strong, if the voices of its workers are heard, respected and central to decision‑making. I want to help our union fulfill that mission. I bring both practical experience and scholarly expertise in labor and worker issues. Before entering academia, I worked as a political organizer and for a local SEIU union, gaining firsthand insight into contract struggles, member outreach and building collective power. I later worked with workers and unions in South Korea during a period of major restructuring, which deepened my understanding of the challenges workers face in moments of structural and institutional change. I went on to earn a master’s degree in industrial labor relations and later a PhD in sociology, and devoted much of my academic career to researching worker movements, labor issues and collective action. These experiences have equipped me with knowledge and skills that would help me serve effectively as a member of the Executive Board. Finally, I am energized by the momentum, new leadership and renewed engagement I see across our union. I want to contribute to, and help build, that energy. As Member‑at‑Large, I am ready to participate by actively listening to, and engaging, our members and bringing their voices to the table.</image:caption>

<image:title>Announcements - Meet the Candidates for Member-at-Large - Richard Lerman</image:title>
<image:caption>My name is Richard Lerman, I am an Instructor of Teaching, and I am running to be a Member-at-Large for the WAU. I worked at Wayne State University for almost 30 years as an IT professional and for almost 6 years as a part-time faculty member before my position was eliminated due to the IT consolidation and reorganization in 2020. Over the next few years, I continued working as a part-time faculty member until I accepted a full-time teaching position in the Technology, Information Systems, and Analytics department at the Mike Ilitch School of Business last year. I am also a proud second-generation alumnus of WSU, receiving degrees in engineering, computer science, business, and education. My father received his business degree in 1974. I met my wife at WSU, and my daughter is a graduate of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Over the years, I have donated both my time and my money to WSU, helping with late-night breakfast and graduation, and funding MISB scholarships and our new building. As an IT professional at WSU, I was active in the P&A union, UAW Local 1979. I served as Member-at-Large, Treasurer, and a member of the contract negotiation team. I helped with elections, grievances, and layoffs. I completed contract negotiations training at the UAW. If elected as a Member-at-Large for the WAU, I will draw on my previous union experience to ensure WSU honors all provisions of our union contract, provide support to all of our members, and help to identify ways to move our union forward. I am glad to return to WSU and proud to be a member of the WAU.</image:caption>

<image:title>Announcements - Meet the Candidates for President! - Jamie McQuaid</image:title>
<image:caption>My name is Jamie (James R) McQuaid, and I am running for President of the Wayne Academic Union. I am running because we’re facing a moment where the rights, dignity, and voice of workers and students are under attack. Recently, we’ve seen increasingly hostile administrations opposed to employment security, free speech, and the rule of law ratchet up pressure on working people. This has happened across institutions, from campuses nationwide to within the halls of our own federal government. We have seen deputized gangs abduct workers off streets in our local communities; at the same time, campus administrators have hired private armies to crush student protest and silence voices demanding an end to university complicity in genocide. We have watched our government strip federal workers of bargaining rights, and even their employment, all while university leaders engage in backroom deals, working around regular processes to silence or eliminate their most informed critics. We have witnessed a gang of ambitious authoritarians appropriate national tragedies to strip people of their right to free speech while, locally, campus leadership has invaded office space to remove union signage and banish union leaders to inaccessible locations on university grounds. I believe in the power of mutually respective collective bargaining, but I also believe that if such an approach is to be effective, we must first build up a united, militant union that is not afraid of confrontation to challenge injustice and hold corruption to account. As President, I will help our union meet this moment by working to strengthen ties between faculty, staff, students, and community members to bring social justice organizing and bargaining for the common good to the forefront at Wayne State. Together, we can defend the free speech, employment rights, and dignity of all working people on campus, regardless of whether attacks on such basic rights come from the President of the University or the federal government of the United States. <image:title>Announcements - Meet the Candidates for President! - Nashat Imran</image:title>
<image:caption>We have all probably thought to ourselves, the university could be a better place if academic staff and faculty were heard more often. Just last month, we demonstrated this at my school, the School of Medicine. My name is Nashat Imran, a WSU faculty member since 2013, and I am running to be your next WAU President because I want to see more success stories like these. I am a Professor of Medicine, the Division Chief of Nephrology, and the Renal Section Chief at Karmanos Cancer Institute. My past and current experiences include serving as the President of the Executive Committee of the WSU School of Medicine, the President of WSUSOM Faculty Senate, the Program Director of the Nephrology Fellowship program, the Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency, the Medical Director of multiple dialysis units, and a member of numerous local, regional, national, and international committees in Professional Nephrology and Medical Societies. I am also the recipient of multiple teaching awards over the years; the one dearest to me is the Excellence in Clinical Science Teaching Award, which is awarded annually to one recipient in the School of Medicine. I have drawn many lessons from these experiences, among them are to remain cordially principled, maintain bridges while allowing other viewpoints to evolve, and to elevate junior academic staff and faculty to unlock their true potential. I plan to continue building consensus, consulting, and collaborating with our union members. I promise an open-door policy, transparency, and principled leadership. My goals as the President are to strengthen the engagement of current members and to expand the union family with new members. I plan to protect our interests as a collective bargaining unit, amplify your voices to the administrators, and leave the union stronger and more resilient. Our university is more than just legacy buildings, updated logos, and professional photo-ops. We are a collection of hard-working talents that serve our community and propel the next generation of leaders forward. WSU profile page</image:caption>

<image:title>Announcements - Meet the Candidates for President! - Hayg Oshagan</image:title>
<image:caption>I am Hayg Oshagan, Associate Professor in the Department of Communication. Higher education is being targeted by manipulators of fear and division, and we are seeing the consequences in the elimination of positions, higher workloads and greater insecurity. In times like these, we must stand together not only to protect what we have fought for and represent, but also to build on our hard-won gains, strengthen our position, and shape our future. Over the years I have acquired extensive experience by serving on WAU’s executive board for 10 years, and as a member of our last two contract negotiating teams. I also serve on WSU’s Coalition of Unions, and represent WAU on the Metro Detroit AFL-CIO. Recent activism outside WSU includes service on the Governor-appointed Genocide and Holocaust Education Committee, Michigan Census Complete Count Committee, current vice-chair on Michigan Immigrants and Refugees Council. I co-chair the Detroit City Council’s Immigration Task Force. I have worked on Detroit’s charter revision for the Detroiters’ Bill of Rights, and advised the Redistricting Commission and the State census efforts for Michigan’s minority communities. I am the founder of New Michigan Media, a national model of collaboration bringing together the region’s largest minority newspaper publishers (Arab, Latino, Bangladeshi, Jewish, Asian and African-American), for a unified effort to fight for the civil and human rights of minorities. I am running for WAU president to deepen our internal power and to lead our union, students, and wider community, in solidarity and strength. My work has prepared me to lead us during this critical period. WSU profile page</image:caption>

<image:title>Announcements - Executive Board Election - Candidate for President: Jenni Sheridan Moss</image:title>
<image:caption>In the year since I became President of WAU, I feel that the Union have moved forward in a number of ways. Most importantly, we have moved away from the top-down leadership of the past. The Executive Board was empowered to set an agenda in the fall and then to act on it. We have a Communication and Action Team and a Social Justice Committee that are setting their own priorities. The Budget and Personnel Committee is busy drilling down into our finances to keep them in line with our values and priorities. Council is larger and more active than ever. At membership meetings we have involved members in understanding the contract. All in all, many members are now actively involved in making decisions, setting the Union’s agenda, and taking action on our collective behalf. A more democratic union must be transparent in its actions. This year we instituted a weekly roundup to keep members up to date on what is happening on Union fronts. This has been critical as we face the challenges that come with the current attacks on higher education. Transparency is not without challenges; it sometimes conflicts with expediency at crucial moments. We will continue to work to find the balance. I do not take credit for all the changes and advances of the Union. My goal is to empower our officers, board members, and members to own the union and keep it on the current healthy trajectory.</image:caption>

<image:title>Announcements - Executive Board Election - Candidate for Secretary: Nicole Lynne Wheeler</image:title>
<image:caption>I believe I would be an excellent fit for the position of recording secretary with the Wayne Academic Union based on my background in leadership, attention to detail, and commitment to effective communication. First, my experience managing the $2.6 million HRSA ANEW grant at Wayne State University has honed my organizational skills. I have successfully overseen complex data collection, record-keeping, and meeting documentation, ensuring accuracy and consistency. This experience will translate seamlessly into the responsibility of keeping accurate minutes for Union and Executive Board meetings, General Membership meetings, and any other meetings as needed. My ability to capture key discussions and decisions, and then effectively disseminate this information, will help ensure transparency and accountability within the Union. Additionally, my role in supervising diverse teams and collaborating across multiple departments at Wayne State has developed my strong communication and interpersonal skills. I have experience collaborating with various stakeholders to create clear agendas, communicate meeting outcomes, and maintain the flow of information. This background will be essential in drafting meeting agendas in collaboration with the President and ensuring that the distribution of minutes to the Membership is timely and accurate. As an assistant professor, I also understand the importance of keeping well-organized records. Whether it’s tracking student performance or maintaining comprehensive documentation for grant management, I am meticulous in my approach to record-keeping. I will bring this same level of care and attention to maintaining the non-financial records of the Union and managing the Membership rolls. Moreover, my involvement with the DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) committee has reinforced my ability to work with a diverse group of people, respecting various perspectives and ensuring everyone is heard and valued. This experience will allow me to perform any additional duties prescribed by the Executive Board with a collaborative mindset, ensuring that all voices are considered. In sum, my experience with record-keeping, communication, and collaboration, combined with my attention to detail and organizational skills, make me well-suited for the role of recording secretary with the Wayne Academic Union. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to the Union’s goals and serve the Membership.</image:caption>

<image:title>Announcements - Executive Board Election - Candidate for Member-at-Large: Jessica Pfeiffer</image:title>
<image:caption>With over 10 years of experience at WSU and almost just as much time involvement with WAU as a Council Rep, 2N FWA Impact Bargaining Member, and Academic Staff Subcommittee Member for our most recent contract negotiations, I feel this is a crucial time in higher education that necessitates a stronger than ever commitment to community-building within our union and beyond. I would like to fulfill this commitment as your WAU Member-at-Large. It’s time for us to come together as a cohesive union to ensure WSU remains what we all want it to be – not only for ourselves, but for our students.</image:caption>

<image:title>Announcements - Executive Board Election - Candidate for Member-at-Large: Nashat Imran</image:title>
<image:caption>We all need a fighter — and I’m ready to be that feisty fighter for you. I’m running to serve as a member-at-large of the Academic Union at Wayne State University because this moment demands bold and principled leadership. The first and foremost challenge we face is protecting our faculty and staff from the certain reverberations of the recent federal cuts to indirect research costs—a move just implemented by the Trump administration. These cuts threaten our research and academic mission and the livelihoods of our union members. There are many ways to address this hyper-acute problem, and a serious executive board can assert them. As the current Division Chief of Nephrology, former director of the Nephrology Fellowship Program, current associate program director of the internal medicine residency, and President of the Faculty Senate at the School of Medicine, advocating for faculty and trainee rights, academic excellence and institutional accountability has always been my passion and goal. I’ve been honored with multiple teaching awards, including the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Award, but my dearest honor has always been standing up for my colleagues. If you honor me with this role, I will bring a deep understanding of our institution, refined negotiation skills, and, most importantly, speaking truth to power. I don’t back down — and I don’t settle for less than what we all deserve. Let’s meet at this moment together and fight—and win—together. In solidarity, Dr. Nashat Imran Faculty Senate President at the School of Medicine Chief, Nephrology Division at WSUSOM Chief, Renal Section at Karmanos Cancer Institute Internal Medicine Residency Program, Associate Program Director</image:caption>

<image:title>Announcements - Special Election: Executive Board</image:title>
<image:caption>As I enter my 29th year as a member of our union, I am encouraged by the positive direction we are taking. Under Danielle, WAU has become more democratic and more transparent. These changes have led to the most energized membership I have witnessed. It is important that we do not lose this momentum. We are strong; we can be stronger. I will not run WAU the way our administration runs the WSU, where all decisions are made at the top. Our union, like a well-run university, should have true shared governance. The president of the union should activate and develop the leadership capacities of all members. The union is OURS. One focus of my term will be activating more faculty. Our academic staff members are currently doing most of the heavy lifting in our union, and I appreciate their dedication and enthusiasm. But more faculty, particularly those in the tenure stream, need to step up and use their privilege to lift up all our members.</image:caption>

<image:title>Announcements - Academic Staff Steering Committee (ASSC) Candidate Statements - Sean Novak</image:title>
<image:caption>Greetings, My name is Sean Novak. I am an Academic Advisor II who has worked in the Department of Psychology since October of 2020. Please accept this as an expression of my interest to be elected as the Co-Chair for the Academic Staff Steering Committee of the Wayne Academic Union. I am interested in serving in this capacity because I believe it is important for us to have a strong unified voice from the academic staff. In this role, I believe I can serve to help build and maintain that solid foundation, while continuing to strengthen the relationship between faculty and staff. I have served to provide these opportunities as part of the member engagement committee of the Academic Advising Council. I have also made this part of my mission as an Organizing Fellow for the union over the last year. Lastly, over the past 6 months, I have built and produced a podcast for our union called Voices in Action, which is intended to keep members informed of union activity and engage a variety of issues including those particularly relevant to academic staff. Thank for your consideration of me to serve our union in this role.</image:caption>

<image:title>Announcements - Academic Staff Steering Committee (ASSC) Candidate Statements - Denise Thomas</image:title>
<image:caption>I am a University Counselor III who provides support services to WSU’s military affiliated students. I work in the Gregory Gadson Office of Military and Veterans Academic Excellence (Gadson OMVAE) which reports to the University Advising Center. Throughout my 35+ years of university service, I have worked various roles as academic staff; financial aid officer, admission counselor, academic advisor. Supporting the Wayne Academic Union (WAU) throughout my tenure has been continuous. For the past 5 years I have represented my peers in Gadson OMVAE and the University Advising Center as their Council Representative. I’m a firm believer that the WAU supports academic staff and experienced the strengthening of the Union because of its academic staff membership. Serving as Secretary to the Academic Staff Steering Committee (ASSC) allows me the opportunity to give back to an organization that has supported me throughout my tenure at WSU. I will fulfill the responsibilities, provide innovation and work as a team member to ensure the best programming possible for academic staff.</image:caption>

<image:title>Announcements - Academic Staff Steering Committee (ASSC) Candidate Statements - Sean O’Brien</image:title>
<image:caption>Sean O’Brien is an academic services officer at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan in the Department of History and in Labor@Wayne. His (unfinished) dissertation research is on labor organizing in the comic book industry. Throughout his academic career, he has served in three different unions and led two contract negotiations. The highlight of these negotiations was the equivalent of a 16.5% raise for graduate workers over three years. This was the largest percentage raise in the state of Michigan that year. Sean started working with the Higher Ed Labor United coalition in the summer of 2021 as it formed, serving as staff and on numerous committees. He currently serves on the Higher Ed Labor United Steering Committee as a representative for Clerical, Research, and Technical Staff and as a City Commissioner for the City of Marine City. Statement of Intent: Higher education is in crisis. With widespread austerity and defunding, over reliance on adjunct labor and gig work, and out-of-control student debt, it’s easy for Academic Staff to get lost in the conversation. Yet, we hold a unique relationship with administration, faculty, and students. “Academic Staff” is a very diverse body itself. I want to stand with, and stand for, fellow academic staff in having our voice heard, actively engaging our membership, and building coalitional and democratic power. I am volunteering to serve our membership as a Member-at-Large to the Academic Staff Steering Committee.</image:caption>

<image:title>Announcements - Academic Staff Steering Committee (ASSC) Candidate Statements - Amber S. Case</image:title>
<image:caption>Amber S. Case (they/she) is an Academic Services Officer and the DEIA Coordinator for the School of Information Sciences (SIS). They are a representative for the school on the university’s DEI Council, WAU Council representative, union representative for the Academic Senate’s DEI Committee, and active in QWSU, Wayne State’s employee engagement group for queer faculty and staff. As head of the DEI Programming Committee at SIS, Case has coordinated several programs, including coordinating the school’s first Beyond Barriers: Conversations on Equity in Information Conference and the school’s DEIA Syllabus Statement Workshop. Case has been a part of the Wayne State community for over 15 years and is a four-time Wayne State degree recipient. They are most recently a 2021 graduate of the Master of Library and Information Science/Master of Arts in Public History dual degree program, where they specialized in archives; gender, sexuality, and women studies; and Detroit history. Though I am relatively new to my role and this union, I am not new to being employed at this institution.I have over ten years of work experience here at Wayne State. I understand the ins and outs of being a staff member (and student) here and have participated in numerous committees and initiatives to the betterment of our school. I can provide key insight on the different levels of employment and experiences here at Wayne State, sharing perspectives that others may not have access to. I am passionate about ensuring everyone has knowledge of and access to everything we have a right to and fighting for what we have earned and deserve. If elected, I hope to help craft programming and professional development seminars that are holistic and inclusive of all academic staff. Knowledge is power, and we are at our strongest when we work together for the common good.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I believe active union membership is a powerful mechanism to create and protect high quality jobs. I began union organizing in 2016 as an member of the Graduate Student Organizing Committee at the University of Pittsburgh. Under the guidance of United Steelworkers organizers, I received comprehensive training in organizing, meeting facilitation, and social action. In this capacity, I spearheaded one-on-one interactions and organizing efforts for my department, representing School of Social Work student workers (~30 members, average of 5 new workers per year). I also played a key role in organizing initiatives within the Psychology and Education Departments. During the pandemic, I led a petition to expand job security for graduate student workers, accumulating over 700 signatures within our unit of around 1200 individuals. Over the past eight years, I have collaborated with unions in Pittsburgh and Detroit, utilizing research to identify workers' needs and priorities to promote change. Along with my coresearchers, I discussed this process our recent article, "Using Research to Build Power: The Pittsburgh Wage Study." Since joining WAU and the WSU faculty August 2021, I have actively contributed as the Secretary for the WSU Coalition of Unions, a union representative for my School, and the designer and deliverer of the monthly Union Council Newsletter. Additionally, I participated in organizing an event addressing utility concerns in winter 2023. As the WAU Executive Board VP, I commit to promoting a transparent and active union that serves our membership and is responsive to the needs of our broader community. Since entering the VP position through a special election this winter, I wasted no time increasing my work to support a strong union. As the new chair of organizing, I am working daily with members and our staff to build sustainable organizing processes to further strengthen our union for bargaining and for the years to come. In the last few months, I have begun developing sustainable pathways for up- and down-stream communication, provided trainings and resources to members to build organizing skills, expanded opportunities for meaningful union engagement, met with various subcommittees and leaders to better understand the goals and needs of our members, and worked with the communications and bargaining teams to support negotiations. If elected, I will continue to work diligently to build union infrastructure toward an even stronger union that can stand in solidarity with students and leaders across our community to stand for equity, justice, and shared governance.</image:caption>

<image:title>Announcements - Executive Board and Delegate Elections: Candidate Statements - Ali Salamey</image:title>
<image:caption>I grew up in a Union home; my father was a member of the UAW during his career working on the assembly line at Ford Motor Company for 30 years. I have seen firsthand how critical unions are for securing, maintaining, and protecting workers' rights. During the last few years, I have been active in our Union at Wayne State University in several capacities. I was on the Impact Bargaining Committee and the 2N Committee that worked on the Flexible Work Arrangements (FWA) policy as a representative for academic staff in 2021-2022 and 2022-2023. Currently, I am on the Contract Bargaining Team that will be negotiating a new contract for Wayne Academic Union (WAU) membership in summer 2024. My time on these committees has reaffirmed for me what I often heard growing up in a Union home: in greater numbers and with solidarity in a cause we can get more things done. This is a firm conviction that I have; I believe that we can do the most good with our shared goals and values. An additional personal goal I have in running for a position on the WAU Executive Board is to ensure that our Board is an inclusive and welcoming elected body that represents all its membership. I joined Academic Staff at WSU in 2013 as an Academic Services Officer III in the Honors College. I secured ESS in 2018 and I was promoted to ASO IV in 2023. In the process of getting ESS and a promotion, I saw the dedicated work that WAU does for us. Also, during my time on the Contract Bargaining Team this year (2023-2024) I have heard from many of our members about the issues that are important to them and the level of professionalism they bring to work every day. I want to be an advocate for those priorities and to support new ways for our membership to achieve their professional and personal goals. In addition, I am a longtime member of the WSU academic community. I completed my BA in English as an undergraduate through the Honors Program at WSU. I have an MA in English from New York University and an MA in Near Eastern Studies from the University of Michigan. Some highlights from my tenure at WSU: I have served on the Academic Senate for five years; I’ve been on two College Review committees; I have been on several University-wide committees; I have taught seminars in the Honors College since 2013; and I have been on the Academic Affairs, Curriculum and Instruction, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committees of the Senate.</image:caption>

<image:title>Announcements - Executive Board and Delegate Elections: Candidate Statements - Anglesia Brown</image:title>
<image:caption>Greetings, My name is Anglesia Brown, and I have been a member of the Wayne State University community since May of 2017, serving as an Academic Services Officer II. Over the years, I have been dedicated to the Department of English, progressing to the role of ASO III and earning Employment Security Status (ESS). In this capacity, I act as the Department’s Human Resources Liaison, overseeing teaching assignments, HR onboarding, and contract renewals. I have spearheaded the implementation of new systems and processes to streamline office functions. Additionally, I collaborate with the Department’s course scheduling committee to input course schedules and monitor enrollments effectively. At Wayne State University, I am deeply involved both within my department and the wider community. In 2019, I was honored to be selected as a participant in the inaugural Academic Leadership Academy. Currently, I serve as a committee member on several vital boards, including the Department of English Policy Committee, Academic Staff Selective Salary Committee, Parking Committee, ASPDC, and ASCC. Previously, I chaired the EAA (Improvement of the Scholarship of Advising) Committee and served as a committee member for Welcome Black. Recently, I earned a PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the College of Education a. I am committed to continuing my service as a member at large because of my passion for fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in the workplace. I am also eager to contribute to safeguarding our union rights, advancing professional development opportunities, and advocating for the continuation of flexible work arrangements (FWA).</image:caption>

<image:caption>I am running for member-at-large because we deserve a reasonable and healthy working environment that honors our efforts and for which we are compensated accordingly. We cannot achieve this without building and maintaining a strong union. In my role as a librarian at Wayne State, I am fortunate to regularly interact with students, community members, staff, and faculty in the course of my day-to-day work. This uniquely positions me to continue to build relationships across our bargaining unit and advocate for our members. In my time at Wayne State, I have been an active council representative and I am involved in the Bargaining for the Common Good subcommittee. In addition to my work within WAU, I received union training via Organizing for Power: Core Fundamentals and prior to my employment at Wayne State, I was involved in my union as a librarian in the Detroit Public Library system. As my parents were both active in their unions as a firefighter and a teacher, it has never been an option for me to not do my part in my communities. If I am elected as a member-at-large, I commit to working toward an increasingly transparent union that is welcoming and responsive to member needs.</image:caption>

As the WAU Executive Board VP, I commit to promoting a transparent and active union that serves our membership and is responsive to the needs of our broader community.</image:caption>

I was on the initial committee and the 2N Committee that worked on the Flexible Work Arrangements (FWA) policy as a representative for academic staff in 2021-2022 and 2022-2023. I joined Academic Staff at WSU in 2013 as an ASO III in the Honors College. I secured ESS in 2018 and I was promoted to an ASO IV in 2023.

<image:caption>Throughout my professional journey and as the current President of the Senate at the School of Medicine, I have consistently witnessed how the lack of assertive and knowledgeable representation at the managerial table results in disappointments and avoidable suffering. As a former Fellowship Program Director and currently, as the internal medicine Associate Program director, I recognize transparency as the most valuable currency one can trust. Furthermore, as a current co-chair of an international professional organization subcommittee, the American Society of Onconephrology, I recognize the significance of continuously fostering collaborative relations with external stakeholders, whether negotiating contracts, innovating solutions, or engaging with the broader community. I plan to represent all members by seeking their input, fostering consensus, and asserting our presence at our university. The role of the secretary on the executive board is the glue that holds the board together; thus, I plan to execute this role to perfection. Together, we can aim for a stronger and more unified community.</image:caption>
